Sunday Walk & Talk

 

Sunday Walk & Talk is hosted by Link4Growth District & South West Herts.  Meet them at the Cha Cafe on Sunday 9th June at 1pm – 3pm, and you enjoy the adventure from there. You can pace yourself, stick around for half an hour or finish the walk.

These events are informal and relaxed, inclusive and open to all, created to provide a regular chance for people to meet others in the community in a different way; on a walk in nature.

Exploring Cassiobury Park, local water canals, River Gade, Whippendell Forest, Nature Reserve or Grove Park Hotel grounds, whatever they have the time for.

No agenda other than to enjoy conversations and other people’s company and get to know each other. At these community events, you’ll find yourself in a friendly atmosphere with other local people.

There are no attendance fees or barriers, please just book in to attend, come along and join them. Why not bring a friend too?

Free Inclusive Dance Classes from Para Dance UK

 

Inclusive Dance welcome all, no matter what age,ability or disability. Both sessions are open to everybody with a focus on exploring and developing individual creativity and physical potential.

Monday & Friday (term time only) at the Meriden Community Centre from 11am – 12pm on both days.

Monday is more group dance and a very social group so it’s a good opportunity to socialise and make new friends as they are a very friendly bunch, the dance is aimed for all and is adapted for all who attend.

Friday sessions are operated with Watford Disability club and the Saracens. Participants will have the opportunity to experience dance, football and rugby or if they want they can choose their favourite subject. They are both physical and fun, again all ages and ability welcome.

One of the best things about dancing is that while you’re having fun moving to music and meeting new people, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout.


 

Family Fun day

 

Holywell Community Centre are holding a family fun day on Saturday 8th June 12:00pm until 5:00pm.

Come along and have fun! Some of the activities include;

Healthy Lifestyles for Men

 

Healthy Lifestyles for Men is a 6 weeks course that starts on Wednesday 5th June from 10am – 1pm (and runs every Wednesday after that at the same time) at the Meriden Community Centre.

This fun course for men 19+ looks at how to improve lifestyles through exercise, eating habits and general lifestyle changes.

Adult craft workshop – Felting

This event has had to be cancelled.  Further Adult craft sessions are planned in August.

A fun introduction to felting including a felt making demo by an expert is being held at the Cassiobury Hub on Saturday 8th June from 11am – 12.30pm.

At this adult craft felting workshop you can create your own felt craft item to take home.  There will be a short break in the middle for tea and coffee.

Bell Ringing@St Mary’s Watford

 

St Mary’s is always on the lookout for suitable candidates to learn the fascinating art of bell ringing and to join the band.

Practices are held on Tuesdays at 7.30pm, with ringing for Sunday services at 9.45am and 5.30pm.

All you need is a sense of rhythm and tone, and an ability to grasp the fundamentals of mathematical permutations.

You will be a member of a really friendly group of people and be part of an essentially English tradition which is well known and practised all over the world.

St Mary’s has a ring of ten bells, If you would like to know more about bell ringing, please get in touch and they will be pleased to show you round and answer any questions you have.

Children’s Nutrition Talk

 

A Children’s Nutrition Talk will be held at the Education Room at Daisy’s in the Park, with Registered Nutritionist Juliette Evans on Friday 7th June.  It will be an informal talk with lots of chances to ask questions.

It’s never too late to introduce your child to a healthier way of eating. Find out what healthy eating means for your child, and how it can impact their health now, and as they grow.

Learn what your child can eat to help:

Improve concentration at school 
Increase their energy
Boost their mental wellbeing 
Improve resistance to illness

The talk also looks at challenges parents may face, including ways to help picky eaters, and a talk about sugar!!

This talk is aimed at parents who have children who are toddlers through to teens.

How to use your apple tech better in British Sign Language (BSL)

 

How to use your apple tech better in British Sign Language (BSL) is hosted by Watford Deaf Club.

Love Language (a Deaf and hearing led company which specialises in British Sign Language interpretation within the arts, technology, political and social learning sectors) are visiting the Watford Deaf Club to explain how they and the apple store Watford are making their learning Deaf accessible.

They will be there on Wednesday 5th June. The club opens at 7.30pm with the talk at 8pm.
