Random Cafe

 

The Random Cafe is a pop up cafe and part of The Real Junk Food Project. Diverting food destined to be thrown away.  They hold regular cafes around Watford, using food donated by food establishments that would otherwise go to landfill.

The Random Cafe is being held at the Meriden Community Centre on Saturday 8th June from 1pm-3pm 

You can enjoy a coffee or tea, cake and other snacks whilst having a chat, and then do some shopping at their food boutique table.  All of their food is available on a pay-as-you-feel basis.


 

May Day Celebrations at the Bandstand

 

Join the May Day Celebrations at the Bandstand, Cassiobury Park, on Monday 6th May from 1pm – 4pm.

FREE activities include:

  • Performance from the Pump House Clog Morris Dancers.
  • Petting animals from Cassiobury Farm.
  • Craft activity.
  • Face painting.

 

Meriden Residents Association – Annual General Meeting

 

Our Annual General Meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday 7th May at the Meriden Community Centre.  This meeting is open to all Meriden residents so please put this event in your diary and join us on the night.

Doors will open at 7pm for refreshments and Meriden Residents who attend will be entered into a raffle to win a £50 Intu gift voucher.

FREE Nordic Walking Taster Session

 

Come and join a free Nordic Walking taster session on Saturday 4th May at 2pm from Leavesden Country Park.

A 45 minute session that will help you understand just how beneficial Nordic walking can be and how it is far more than just walking with poles!!

Get a taste of how light you will feel on your feet, how the whole body is mobilised and why you need to take the time to learn the technique.  Pole hire is included.

Dawn Chorus at Rickmansworth Aquadrome

 

Join the Dawn Chorus at Rickmansworth Aquadrome on Sunday 5th May, and learn how to identify birds by their songs and calls.

Meet by the cafe in the park at 5am.  All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Free Compost Giveaway

 

To celebrate the start of growing season and to thank residents for recycling their food and garden waste, Watford Borough Council and Veolia will be holding a compost giveaway on Saturday 11th May from 10am to 1pm (or while stocks last) at Wiggenhall Depot.

Ten tonnes of compost will be available to Watford residents who bring a proof of address (council tax or utility bill), and their own bags and shovels. Residents can help themselves to up to three bags of compost kindly donated by Agrivert – the facility where Watford’s food and garden waste is processed.

This is a self-service event and you will need to fill your own bags with compost and transport them to your car, so bring someone along with you to help if needed.

The entrance and the car park are expected to get very busy so please be prepared to wait and be considerate to other vehicles and pedestrians around you.


 

Watford Footbal Club – Match Day Parking

 

Watford Football Club have a home match on Saturday 27th April (Kick off 3pm).   Parking restrictions will be enforced and traffic delays can be expected before and after the match.

The police will close of the section of Vicarage Road, between the junction with Fearnley Street and the junction with Harwoods Road.  This will be for a short period before and after the match.

Watford’s Wembley Finals

 

Watford Museum are delighted to announce a foyer exhibition celebrating three of Watford Football Club’s most magical Wembley moments.

Relive Watford Football Club’s best memories as they prepare for the FA Cup Final with a foyer display of unique treasures and memorabilia every fan will remember:

The 1984 FA Cup Final, the victorious 1999 Play-Off Final and this season’s forthcoming FA Cup Final versus Manchester City.

On display from Saturday 27th April to Saturday 25th May. Open Thursday to Saturday 10am – 5pm, admission free.


 

Bat Walk around Leavesden Country Park

A Bat Walk around Leavesden Country Park is being held on Friday 10th May from 8pm – 9.30pm.

Meet at Leavesden HIVE for a chat about bats and a quick refreshment before heading out into the park with the bat detectors to discover these magical mammals of the night in their habitat.

They will have bat detectors for you to use and the Park Ranger will be on hand to help identify the bats that you see and explain their important role in the biodiversity of our green spaces.

All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Bookings should include all adults and children attending – £2 per person
