Watford 10K

 

Watford 10K is hosted by Watford 10K Charity Run and Watford Harriers Athletics Club. It is on Monday 6th May  from 9:30am at Cassiobury Park.

The ever-popular bluebell route attracts runners of all ages and abilities – with 1k, 3k and 10k courses there’s something for everyone. Bespoke medals for all and chip timing for the 10k course.

By entering the Watford 10K you are helping Watford Mencap to continue supporting local people with learning disabilities to reach their full potential.

Watford Celebration 2019

 

Watford Celebration is an annual colourful festival which offers the people of Watford the opportunity to learn about the rich diversity of their town.  It is being held on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May – 11am till 4pm.

Ethnic, faith and charitable groups showcase and share each other’s music, dance, drama, costumes and food offering a wonderful afternoon of entertainment for the whole family.

May family open day and fun dog show

 

National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) will be holding their annual Bank Holiday May family open day and fun dog show on Monday 6th May at the Watford centre, between 11am – 4pm.

With over 30 stalls including gift-ware, raffle and books.  There will be also be hot food and delicious homemade cakes to tempt you.

Why not bring your dog along and have ago on their fun agility course or perhaps you would prefer to enter your adorable pooch in the Fun Dog Show.

If you don’t have an animal of your own then come and have a look at all their animals waiting to find their forever home.

From guinea pigs to cats and dogs they have up to over 200 animals looking for homes. All profits go to support the homeless animals in their care.

Please park at the Mercue hotel and register your car at the hotel reception desk.


 

Community Coffee – Cafe in the Library

 

Community Coffee – Cafe in the Library is held the first Friday of the month at Watford Central Library from 10am – 11.30am.   Hosted by Link4Growth District – South West Herts.

Link4Growth’s purpose is to share the great work that is happening in our communities. Whether it is inspiring community work, or brilliant local businesses offering fabulous services.

All those attending are free from any pressure to meet the needs or expectations of others.  In other words, come along and just be yourself.

Link4Coffee events are informal and relaxed drop-in sessions, created to provide a regular chance for people to meet others in their local community. 

These gatherings are open to all, you might meet a new friend, someone with skills you need or even someone you can help.  You might get some amazing advice, guidance or signposting to useful information.


 

Watford Football Club Evening Home Match – Match Day Parking

 

Watford Football Club have an evening home match on Tuesday 23rd April (Kick off 7.45pm).  Parking restrictions will be enforced and traffic delays can be expected before and after the match.

The police will close of the section of Vicarage Road, between the junction with Fearnley Street and the junction with Harwoods Road.  This will be for a short period before and after the match.

Coach Trip to Southend

 

We’re going to the seaside! Join us on Saturday 3rd August for our annual day trip to Southend on Sea.

This is proving to be a very popular coach trip and seats are selling fast.  Make sure you book soon to avoid disappointment.

£10 per adult
£8 per senior citizen, student or carer 
£5 per child (0 – 14 years)

The cost includes entry to Sealife Adventure.

Random Cafe

 

The Random Cafe is now at the Meriden Community Centre the second and fourth Saturday of each month.  You can enjoy a coffee or tea, cake and other snacks whilst having a chat, and then do some shopping at their food boutique table on Saturday 27th April from 1pm – 3pm. 

The Random Cafe is a pop up cafe and part of The Real Junk Food Project.  Diverting food destined to be thrown away.  All items are available on a pay as you feel basis.


 

Garden Tour with Cream Tea

The Grove will be hosting a tour of their grounds with the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, on Monday 6th May from 2pm – 5pm.

The 90 minute guided tour will cover the formal gardens, alive with bees, birds and butterflies, and the enchanting Walled Garden, complete with their very own Kitchen Garden.

After the tour, you will return to the historic heart of The Grove, where the Earls of Clarendon threw lavish house parties for the likes of Queen Victoria, for a sumptuous cream tea.

Sing your heart out!

 

Come and sing your heart out at Horwood Court, Hillrise Avenue on Friday 24th May from 1.45pm – 2.45pm. 

Loving a good singsong is something that brings us all together.  That’s why the children of Knutsford Primary Academy will be joining the residents of Horwood Court for inter-generational music lessons.

They will be learning, teaching and singing along with the residents and other attendees.
