Plant For Peace

 

Watford Interfaith Association invite you to plant bulbs and plants in the Peace Garden in Cassiobury Park on Wednesday 10th October from 10am – 1pm and on Sunday 14th October from 2pm – 4pm.

You are welcome to bring your own bulbs or plants, and there will be refreshments afterwards.

After the planting on Sunday, prayers and inspirational words for world peace will be offered in the labyrinth.


 

Hertfordshire Health Walks

 

Hertfordshire Health Walks are free, local, health-focused walks happening across the county, walking is a great way to meet new people, while exploring your local area.  All volunteers are trained and insured.

Garston Health Walks happen every Friday throughout October at 11am. They meet at Woodside Leisure Centre, Horseshoe Lane.

This is a ‘First Steps’ walk, which means it is a 20 – 30 minute slow walk, flat and even ground and with no stiles.  Refreshments available nearby.  There is no need to book – just turn up.  All walks are FREE.


 

Baby Rhyme Time

 

Baby Rhyme Times are a fun half hour session of songs and rhymes suitable for babies and toddlers of all ages.  This event is held at North Watford Library every Friday 2.15pm – 2.45pm

All parents, carers and their babies are welcome to join in and there is no need to book in advance for this free activity, however a voluntary contribution of £1 per family is appreciated.

For the comfort and safety of you and your child, numbers are limited at popular sessions.

Baby Rhyme Time is also held at Watford Central Library every Thursday at 2.15pm – 2.45pm


 

Art Resource Centre (ARC)

 

Held every Tuesday and Wednesday in the Charles Room of the Pump House, the  Art Resource Centre provides facilities for artists and non-artists alike.The sessions provide an open and creative space to share ideas and skills, with opportunities to meet other local artists, and access to an extensive art library and facilities for practical work.

Tuesdays 10am – 2pm  £4.00 per session.  This is a more relaxed art and social gathering.

Wednesdays 9.30am – 1pm  £6.00 per session.  This is for the the more serious minded artists.

You can pay on arrival, and will be given a parking permit by the organiser. Please bring your own oil paints and easels etc.

Watford Colosseum Family Fun Open Day

 

Watford Colosseum are throwing their doors open for a really unique day out!  Their Family Fun Event is on Sunday 7th October from 12pm – 4pm.

The Family Fun Day is FREE, but pre-booking is advisable.  Please note that unfortunately all the backstage tours are now sold out.

You can enjoy sound, lighting & pyrotechnic displays, children’s arts & crafts activities, live music, face painting, floor games, a ticket raffle in aid of their chosen charity GOSH, and a whole host of other activities taking place throughout the afternoon, so there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone!

Food and drink will be available to purchase, along with children’s lunch packs and sweet treats.


 

The Watford Fringe

 

Watford’s own arts festival returns, bigger and better for 2018 on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October from 2pm

You will be able to enjoy the best of Watford’s artistic talent in the spotlight, and music, theatre, comedy, spoken word and visual arts will abound, along with food and drink.

Yoga at Meriden

 

New yoga classes for the over 16’s will be starting at the Meriden Community Centre on Thursday 4th October from 7.00pm – 8.00pm

The first class on 4th October will be FREE with future classes costing £3.00 each.

Random Cafe

 

The Random Cafe is part of the Real Junk Food Project and their aims are for a fair, sustainable food system and an end to the industrial waste of perfectly edible food.

Tea, coffee, cake or perhaps a hot slice of toast?  There is something for everyone at the Random Cafe.

On Saturday 27th October,the Random Cafe is being held at the Meriden Community Centre, 1pm – 3pm 

There is no prices, Donate what you can or offer your time and skills.


 

Intu Watford Launch Weekend

 

The opening of Debenhams in intu Watford will be an extravaganza of entertainment, festivities and celebration.  To mark this first exciting phase of the opening of intu Watford’s redevelopment, the shopping centre is putting on a free party for everyone to enjoy, starting Thursday 27th September – Sunday 30th September.

Fashion Designer Julian Macdonald will be kicking things off, cutting the ribbon with the Debenhams local hero winner and welcoming customers in to the store.  Ex Made in Chelsea star Ashley James will also be getting everyone in the party mood, playing a DJ set in store from 9.30am – 12.30pm.

In the store over the weekend there will be a glam squad giving out beauty samples, you can also book your place for a one-on-one sessions with Dior regional Makeup Artist Adam Sidwell.  Simply email debenhamswatfordbackstage@diormail.com to book your session.  While you shop, there will be free prosecco, refreshments from Costa, Pinkster Gin sampling and gift food sampling for you to try.

Over the launch weekend there will also be some great activities in the rest of the intu centre for shoppers to enjoy:

Beauty Zone – Free mini makeovers, manicures and hairstyling for customers to indulge in from expert beauticians and stylists.

Fashion Zone – Retailers will be showcasing their latest fashion trends over the weekend, with personal stylists on hand to give body shape, colour and style advice to shoppers.

Food Zone –  Kids and parents can decorate delicious oat bars with dried fruit and sweets, plus try some tasty food and drink samples.

Single Parents’ Group Meeting

 

Following a very successful first Single Parents’ Group meeting, Watford Community Housing will be hosting another on Monday 1st October, at the Meriden Community Centre from 10am – 11.30am.

This is free and will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded single parents in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with tea and cake provided.

You are welcome to attend with or without your child, but if you are planning on coming with your child, please bring toys or games to keep the occupied.

At the moment they do not have set days when the group will meet, however it is understood that not everyone will be able to attend all of the meetings due to work commitments etc, so the plan is as the group grows to vary the days and times so that everyone has a fair opportunity to attend.
