A fun and friendly programme for people with dementia and their carers which uses favourite songs to create connections with others and bring back memories

Watford Jobs Fair

 

Watford Jobs Fair is being held at Thursday 5th September at The Langley Banqueting Suites, The Parade from 10am – 3pm.

 

There will be over 70 companies from Watford, Herts and North London attending the fair with jobs available on the day.

It’ll be a great opportunity if you’re actively job hunting, if you fancy a career change or are after some career and CV advice!

SOS!SEN‎

 

SOS!SEN‎ Hertfordshire SEN & disability advice centre; Tuesday 8th October, 10.30am – 12.30pm.  Please arrive by 11.30am so that you will be seen before the advice centre finishes.

SOS!SEN is a national charity aiming to empower parents & carers of children /young people with SEN (Special Educational Needs) & disability to tackle successfully themselves the difficulties they face in ensuring special education needs, support and their children’s educational rights are met.

No fee although a donation is appreciated. No appointments necessary. Please arrive by 11.30am so that you will be seen before the advice centre finishes.

They will ask you to sign in and fill out a short case note form so that they can see what advice you need. This allows them to direct you to the next free & most appropriate adviser.

Allocated time 30 mins each, if advice centre is busy. Bring along any relevant papers including reports.

Watford Borough Council’s free clothes swap

 

Refresh your wardrobe for free by swapping your pre-loved clothes for new ones.  Drop off your pre-loved clothes up to 15 good quality items to the Pump House on Thursday 26 September from 5pm to 6pm. You will receive one token in exchange for each item. Have a coffee/go shopping and come back between 6.30 to 7.30pm and swap your tokens for items.

A maximum of 10 items can be taken from the event per person (it is the clothes swapper’s choice if they wish to bring more)

Items that you take along to swap must be in good clean condition.  Items that have shrunk, are stained or need repairing (e.g. missing buttons, broken zips, loose sequins or beading, rips, tears, fabric pulls or holes, bobbly bits, disintegrating seams or hems, lint or fluff) will not be accepted.

The following items will not be accepted:

pierced jewellery, nightwear, swimwear and underwear (including socks) and children’s clothes.

Photographic Autumn Walk – Cassiobury Park Nature Reserve

 

Take a guided walk through Cassiobury Nature Reserve led by Andrew Lalchan (local photographer), on Wednesday 11th September from 11am – 1pm This walk offers opportunities to take nature photos and Andrew will be on hand to provide advice.

As the seasons begin to change there should be autumn colours and early mushrooms.  Meeting point is at the Cassiobury Park Hub which is near the paddling pool.

Family Fun Zone

 

Watford FC is inviting you for an evening of fun activities and live entertainment at Vicarage Road Stadium this Tuesday 27th August.  This EFL cup home match against Coventry City has a kick off start of 7.45pm.

Family Fun Zone: Live musicians, face painters, lots of games and challenges will all be on offer from 5.30pm and with match tickets available for as little as £1 for fans aged 18 and under, it’s the perfect opportunity to experience a game for the first time!

Bumps and Babies Group

 

Bumps and Babies group, hosted by NCT Watford; Monday 9th September at Watford Rugby Club from 1pm – 3pm.

At their first meet up for the new term they will welcome Helena from Stork and the Bees Sling and Nappy library to talk about the services they offer and give you an introduction to baby wearing and reusable nappies.


 

Meriden Community Choir Launch

 

Meriden Community Choir are launching a new choir on Thursday September 12th at the Meriden Community Centre from 8pm – 9pm, and then the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.

Come along and sing!  No previous experience required.  Just a love of singing!

Their first get together is free; following weeks are just £1 – everyone is welcome (15 years +)

Trampoline Classes

 

Looking for something for your kids to do over the summer?  Why not come for a trial of trampoline classes?

Held at Watford Leisure Centre Woodside;  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday’s:

  • 4pm – 4.55pm (5-9yrs)
  • 5pm – 5.55pm (10-12yrs)
  • 6pm – 6.55pm (13-16yrs)

Waterdale ReUse Centre is an easy place to donate unwanted household items or pick up an amazing bargain.  Whether it’s furniture, toys, sports equipment, pet cages or a mirror, the centre is packed full of unwanted treasures waiting for a new home.

By donating or buying items for reuse you:

  • Stop them going to landfill
  • Save the energy needed to recycle them
  • Reduce the natural resources used to create new products

 

Please make sure the items you donate are clean, rip-free and complete with no missing parts.  Some items may need repair, so check them before you buy.
