Family Fun Morning

 

Herts Inclusive Theatre are hosting a FREE family fun morning on Friday 2nd November, at the Holywell Community Centre, Chaffinch Lane (off Tolpits Lane) from 10am – 12pm.

On offer there will a full range of family friendly activities including arts and crafts, storytelling, tombola, games, soft-play, face painting and more.

Entry is free, and there will be homemade cakes and refreshments available to purchase.

Watford Community Housing – Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance Contracts Meeting

 

Watford Community Housing are inviting you to hear about some important updates on Thursday 25th October from 6.30pm.

This meeting is regarding the current and new cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts, and will be lead by Amy Willcox-Smith, their Head of Customer Relationships.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available, Come along to help them shape the new contracts!


 

Cassiobury Fireworks

Hertfordshire’s largest fireworks display organised by Watford Borough Council, is at Cassiobury Park on Saturday 3rd November from 6pm.  The bonfire will be lit at 7pm followed by a spectacular firework display at 7.30pm.

Vibe 107.6FM will be keeping the crowds entertained on stage from 6pm with music and competitions and also introducing live performances from  Georgia and the Vintage Youth.

Frontier Fireworks have designed an amazing theme called ‘Synergy’ for this year to create a unique display.  It will progress in dramatic fashion before the stunning finale is unleashed.

Also on offer are a variety of food and drink outlets, kiddies funfair rides, bungee trampolines and a bouncy slide.

To keep everyone safe no sparklers, fireworks or alcohol are allowed in the park.

 

There is NO PARKING in the Gade Avenue car park from 3pm, apart from a limited number of blue badge spaces, which are available on a first come first served basis.  There are also parking restrictions on surrounding roads to the park from 7am to 11pm, so you are advised to park in one of the public car parks in the town centre.

Car parking, at £5 per car, is available at the following locations:

Shoe Box Appeal

 

The National Animal Welfare Trust are holding a Shoe Box Appeal at their Watford centre until Tuesday 25th December.  The shoe box appeal is where animal lovers can spread the festive joy to the NAWT animals by filling a shoe box with food or toys for the animals they have in their care over the Christmas Period.

 

They would like you to fill a box with things for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Cats and Dogs or a mix of all.

How it works:

Find a shoe box, Fill the box with toys, treats, food, etc., when it is full wrap in some Christmas paper and drop it off at the Centre.

Suggestions List:

Food dried or Tin, Treats, Toys, Blankets, Fruit and Veg

You can drop off your shoe box anytime until Tuesday 25th December between 11am – 4pm

 

Crazy Cardboard Circus

 

Join the WRAP (Watford Recycling Arts Project) Creative Team for some crafting fun making circus characters from recycled materials.  Held at Asda Community Centre, Asda Superstore, St Albans Road, Watford (rear of the store) on Thursday 1st November from 10am – 12pm

WRAP is a registered charity and scrap-store promoting recycling, up-cycling, reusing and prolonging the life of commercial goods and bi-product to alleviate the mass of landfill in Hertfordshire.

Aimed at families, with craft aimed at 5 yrs +, at this event you can try your hands at drawing, cutting and sticking with a conscience whilst making something totally unique!

No need to book, this session is a free drop in event, children must be accompanied by an adult.


 

Single Parent’s – Group Outing

 

Single Parent’s Watford have organised a Free group outing.  If you are a single parent looking for something to do indoors on  Tuesday 30th October, why not sign up to their trampoline park day?  This is at Jump In Borehamwood.

They have hired the trampoline park for the exclusive use of the group and booked two coaches to provide transport there and back from local pick-up points.

For those who have booked the Trampoline park trip to Borehamwood on 30th October, as part of the Single Parents Group, here are the 3 coach pickup points:

9am: Holywell: opposite the shops parade – on the corner of Tolpits Lane and Croxley View.

9.30am: Harebreks – opposite Harebreaks community centre – 81 The Harebreaks, Watford WD24 6NJ

10am: Meriden Community Centre – Garsmouth Way, Watford WD25 9ET

Please note:  The coach WILL NOT WAIT for late comers so please do make sure you get to your preferred pickup point in plenty of time.  If your little one is under 3 years old, please bring a seat booster or a car seat.

If anyone is unable to make it please do let them know as soon as you can, as they are now at nearly full capacity of 136 people in total and they will have to start a waiting list.

Photographic Nature Walk in Cassiobury Park

 

Hosted by Cassiobury Park and Andrew Lalchan Photography,  this walk is for anyone who loves taking photos of nature and would like to learn more or improve upon their digital photography.  They will meet at the Cassiobury Park Hub which is near the paddling pool, on Wednesday 17th October with the walk from 12pm – 2pm.

Take a guided walk through Cassiobury Park nature reserve led by Vicky D’Souza (Cassiobury Park Hub) & Andrew Lalchan (local photographer), they will be exploring autumn in the Park.  Andrew Lalchan will be offering advice on the ideal settings for your camera.

As its likely to be muddy in the park, strong footwear is advised.

24HR Cycle Challenge

 

Family Action is the UK’s leading family charity, working with over 45,000 children and families every year.  They tackle some of the most complex and difficult issues facing families today – including financial crisis, mental health problems and young carers.

Following the horrific fire at the Grenfell Tower block in West London, Family Action is raising money to support those affected, and their families.

Woodside Leisure Centre will be holding this 24 hour cycle challenge in order to help raise funds for those affected by the Grenfell tragedy.

Please come along at 12 noon on Saturday 20th October to support the team in raising as much monies as possible!

The Salvation Army – Tuesday Clubs

 

Every Tuesday The Salvation Army Church and Community Centre hold various clubs at their Church 376a St Albans Road, Watford.

C.A.M.E.O. Club, which starts at 11am is full of crafts, jigsaws, gardening and much more.

Lunch Club, starting at 12pm is a chance to meet each other over soup and a sweet.

Over 60’s Club, is full of all sorts of activities for all sorts of people and starts at 1pm.
