Wild Walk: Bird watching for families

 

Bird watching for families is hosted by Cassiobury Park and is being held on Wednesday 20th February from  10:30am – 11.30am

This Half Term join their walk to spot and learn more about the birds of Cassiobury Park.  Meet at the Hub on the patio at 10:30am.

No booking required, activities suitable for ages 5-12 years and cost £2 per child.

Bring binoculars if you have any, and wear shoes suitable for muddy conditions and warm winter clothing.


 

Burston Garden Centre February Half Term Children’s Activities

 

Rock decorating and paint your own bird feeder is a Half term event held at Burston Garden Centre, North Orbital Road, St. Albans, AL2 2DS on Monday 18th February 11am until 3pm.

Each activity costs £2 per child and they recommend pre-booking to secure your preferred time slot.  They will have a selection of beautiful white rocks ready for you to decorate! Book online at www.burston.co.uk/events/

Thomas Play Experience

 

Thomas play experience is a fantastic indoor giant play date for your children to come and enjoy, providing a fun educational experience for them.  Parents can simply sit back and watch their children play.

The next event is being held in Half Term on Monday 18th February at  Leavesden Green Community Centre, Clarke Way, WD25 0BW Watford.

On the day of the event, there will be movable trains, construction Lego/Duplo for children to build and small world dolls house set, ideal for role play.  This is an ideal play event providing lots of space for children to play and explore.

Slot 1:  10:am – 11:00am  Age: 2.5 – 6 years  £6.50 per child.

Slot 2:  11:15am – 12:15pm Age: 2.5 – 6 years  £6.50 per child. 

Adults FREE Tea/coffee & refreshments available with FREE parking & WIFI at the venue.

Watford Footbal Club – Match Day Parking

 

Watford Football Club have a home match on Saturday 9th February (Kick off 3pm).   Parking restrictions will be enforced and traffic delays can be expected before and after the match.

The police will close of the section of Vicarage Road, between the junction with Fearnley Street and the junction with Harwoods Road.  This will be for a short period before and after the match.

Green Minds Horticultural Centre

 

The Green Minds Horticultural Centre (formerly called Green Canteen) purpose is to promote positive mental, emotional and physical health for everyone involved.

All they grow and make they sell onto the community with all proceeds reinvested back into the project.

The centre currently has bulbs to add a bit of colour to your garden in Spring – Hyacinth, Tulip, Foxtrot and Daffodil bulbs are all available to buy.

If you want to attract more wildlife to your garden then Green Minds has a great selection of bird tables and bird boxes all handmade by volunteers to purchase.

They also have a selection of various plants available to buy, and with cold weather forecast they currently have logs and kindling available aswell.

Bumps and Babies Group

 

Bumps and Babies hosted by NCT Watford (National Childbirth Trust) is a monthly group meeting, the next is on Monday 11th February, 1pm – 3pm at Centrepoint Community Centre, Raphael Drive, Watford WD24 4GY.

Suitable for parents to be and those with babies up to 18 months.  Come for a chat, hot drinks and more….


 

National Animal Welfare Trust – Volunteer Coffee Morning

 

The  National Animal Welfare Trust are holding a Volunteer Coffee Morning on Wednesday 13th February from 10am – 12pm.

If you would like to know more about the volunteer opportunities the NAWT have available, whether you already volunteer with them or not, they would like to invite you to join them for a hot cuppa, a few biscuits and a chat.

You will be able have a look around the centre, meet some of the staff and volunteers, along with finding out about how you can support the work they do.


 

Crafty History: Horse & Carriage

 

Crafty History: Horse & Carriage is hosted by Cassiobury Park on Tuesday 19th February from 10:30am – 11:30am.

This craft activity is all about creating a horse and carriage like the ones that travelled around the grounds of Cassiobury House.

At Cassiobury Park Hub’s education room ; no booking required and the cost is just £2 per child.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and activity suitable for ages 5-12 years.


 

Single Parents Watford – Pamper and Games Afternoon

 

Pamper and Games is an afternoon event for Single Parents Watford hosted by Lorraine Ford from Watford Community Housing.  It is being held on Tuesday 19th February from 1pm – 3pm at Holywell Community Centre Chaffinch Lane, WD18 9QD Watford.

Are you a Single Parent and looking for something fun and free to do in half term?

Come along to this Pamper and games afternoon!  There will be pampering treats for the parents and fun activities by Herts Inclusive Theatre for the children.

If you are coming to this event with your children, please can you book your space by contacting community@wcht.org.uk or phone 01923 209183.  They need to know numbers and ages of children so that Herts Inclusive Theatre can provide age appropriate activities.  They also need to know if any children need more support or have specific needs to participate in the session.

W3RT: Getting Together

 

Getting Together clubs are wellbeing clubs for people over 55 run by Watford & Three Rivers Trust.  They have a club that meet every Friday from 11.30am – 1.30pm at Horwood Court, Hill Rise Avenue, Watford.

Their clubs are free to attend but they do charge for some services.  They will also be introducing an attendance fee for each time you attend a club.  This will be £1.00
