Disability Rugby sessions

 

Everyone Active at Watford Woodside has teamed up with Saracens Sport Foundation and are running FREE disability Rugby sessions.

The 6 weeks course starts on Wednesday 1st May and will be held at Watford Woodside Leisure Centre every Wednesday 10am – 11am.

Health talk: Parkinson’s

 

The next health talk that Watford Community Housing are hosting is about Parkinson’s. It will be held at their offices at Gateway House, 59 Clarendon Road on Wednesday 17th April from 6pm.

They  will be hearing about the causes, symptoms and management of Parkinson’s.

Knit & Natter

 

Knit and Natter is for experienced knitters and absolute beginners.  It is being held on Wednesday 1st May at North Watford Library St Albans Road, WD24 7RW from 1.30pm – 2.30pm.

Knit and Natter is held on the first Wednesday of every month at the library.  Get together to share your love of knitting and crocheting.

Dementia Café at The Chase

 

The Chase Care Centre in Watford is inviting the local community to join them for their weekly Dementia Café meet-up.  Situated in the communal area of the home, the café is open every Tuesday.  The next event is Tuesday 9th April from 11am – 1pm.

The cafe based at the home, The Chase, 4 Printers Avenue, off Whippendell Road, Watford has been created to support residents, relatives and anyone in the community that lives with dementia, or supports someone with the condition, to come together on a weekly basis, with like-minded people; whether for conversation, entertainment or to answer any questions they may have in a supportive and friendly setting.

Whippendell Woods Play Session

 

Whippendell Woods Play Session is hosted by Cassiobury Park and will meet in  Whippendell Wood, Cassiobury Park, Grove Mill Lane, Car park, Watford, WD3 4NA, on Wednesday 17th April from 1pm – 3pm.

Come cook on a campfire, swing on a rope swing, take part in crafts and games at Whippendell woods.

Free event, children must be accompanied by an adult and activities suitable for 5-12 years.

Easter Eggstravaganza

 

This Easter Eggstravaganza is hosted by Woodside Community Church on Saturday 20th April from 4pm – 6pm.

All children are welcome to come and enjoy this Easter Eggstravaganza with crafts, songs, games, a story, food and an Easter egg hunt! The cost is £3 per child.

Astrophotography Workshop in Cassiobury Park.

 

They will be holding this Astrophotography Workshop in Cassiobury Park on the Saturday 27th April but with the 28th as a backup date in case of bad weather at 8:15pm – 10.30pm.

Have you fancied being able to capture the night sky with your camera, but don’t know how?  Come along to this workshop in Cassiobury Park, where they will show you how to shoot the night sky.

Children are welcome, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

As this is an outdoor event, it is subject to the weather conditions, it needs to be cloud free.  A full refund is available if the event is cancelled and you can’t make the alternative date.

Miniature Railway 60th Birthday Celebrations

 

Join the Miniature Railway special 60 birthday weekend on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April at Cassiobury Park, hosted by Watford Miniature Railway.

Activities for all ages including:

  • Exhibition showing the railway’s history.
  • Community stalls and children’s activities.
  • Live music sessions.
  • Model railway.
  • Intensive train service with engines from the past, present and future.

Photowalk in Cassiobury Park

 

Take a guided photowalk through Cassiobury Park nature reserve on Wednesday 24th April from 11:00am – 1pm.  Led by Vicky D’Souza (Cassiobury Park Hub) & Andrew Lalchan (local photographer), they will be exploring early spring in the Park.

This walk offers opportunities to take nature photos and Andrew will be on hand to provide and advise.  As its likely to be muddy in the park, strong footwear is needed.

They will meet at the Cassiobury Park Hub which is near the paddling pool. Cost is £5

Watford Football Club Evening Home Match – Match Day Parking

 

Watford Football Club have an evening home match on Monday 15th April (Kick off 8pm).  Parking restrictions will be enforced and traffic delays can be expected before and after the match.

The police will close of the section of Vicarage Road, between the junction with Fearnley Street and the junction with Harwoods Road.  This will be for a short period before and after the match.
