Heritage Walk

 

A guided Heritage walk with a member of the SW Herts Archaeological & Historical Society, Sunday 7th July from 11am – 1pm.

Find out about the history of the amazing public Park of today, from prehistory to the Estate of the Earls of Essex.

Booking is essential. £2 per person – email cassiobury@watford.gov.uk to book your places.

Meeting point for walk is outside the Hub on the upper paved patio. Walk suitable for adults and families with older children.


 

Cassiobury Farm and Fishery – Open Days

 

Cassiobury Farm and Fishery  Open Days are running throughout the summer, the next is Saturday 3rd August, with  more on Thursday 8th August, Saturday 17th August, Thursday 22nd August and Saturday 31st August.

You can either order on-line (by scrolling down to the day you wish to visit them on, by clicking on the following link) http://www.cassioburyfarm.co.uk/open-days-events/ or simply by purchasing tickets at the gate on the day.

They accept cash and credit cards on the gate. Prices are the same whether ordered on-line or at the gate, but there is a fast track entrance for those with on-line tickets so access is quicker.

Access to the Farm is on-foot only. The Cassiobury Park website gives the best information for parking and public transport. http://cassioburypark.info/directions-to-cassiobury-park/

There is on-site parking for blue-badge disabled drivers. No pre-booking is necessary. Access the Farm via Rousebarn Lane (use postcode WD3 3GD).  No dogs, other than guide dogs, are allowed on-site.

You can leave and return during the day if you wish.  Just ask the gate to stamp your hand.

Gates open at 10:00am. Last entry is 4:00pm and the Farm closes at 5:00pm.

There is a Farm Shop on-site selling their our own produce and that from other local providers.

Their food stall offers burgers & hot-dogs, as well as jacket potatoes, pasties, cakes, snacks and drinks.

You are also welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy it on the meadow, down by the lake… wherever you like really…

Please note that Open Days take place regardless of the weather, and that tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable unless by prior agreement.


 

Older Persons Activity Learning & Safety (OPALS)

 

This free safety informative, help and advice event for the older person is on Tuesday 9th July at Hollytree House, Gammons Lane from 10am – 12pm.

The OPALS events are designed to help reduce the vulnerability of residents to scams, burglaries, fires etc, by providing a sample of support, advice and help within the local community.

Starfish Children’s Ward Fun Day

 

Starfish is a 20-bed general paediatric ward caring for children and young people up to the age of 16 years.  The ward cares for children with both medical and surgical conditions and also has two high-dependency beds, and is located on Level one, Women’s and Children’s building, Watford General hospital.

They are holding this Starfish Children’s Ward Fun Day on Saturday 13th July from 1pm – 5pm on Watford Fields.

Activities include;

  • Bouncy Castle
  • Tombola
  • Foot darts
  • Stalls and games
  • BBQ
  • Beer Tent

Garston Park Litter Pick

 

There is a Litter Pick being held on Garston Park Sunday 7th July at 11.00am.

Please wear sensible clothing and footwear depending on the weather as the park can get very muddy and wet!

Litter picks and bags will be provided, but please bring your own gloves.


 

Youth Crime Awareness Evening

 

This Youth Crime Awareness Evening at Queens school on Wednesday 3rd July from 6.30pm – 8.30pm, is open to local parents, young people and professionals both connected to Queens, as well as those from other neighbouring local authorities/areas.

During the evening there will be presentations from a number of professionals working in the area of youth violence, they will provide a local context and raise awareness for parents, young people and professionals on a number of topics including:

  • Knife crime
  • Gang culture
  • County Lines
  • Social media exploitation
  • Positive choices
  • Staying safe
  • Exploitation of young people
  • Impact of?

Solo Stars Single Parents & Guardians – Coffee Morning

 

Please go to Solo Stars Single Parents & Guardians coffee morning at Asda cafe on Wednesday 3rd July from 10am – 12pm.  This will be the first of two chances for you to pay for the paradise wildlife park trip on Thursday 22nd August.

Solo stars in partnership with Home start Watford bring you a fantastic day out to Paradise Wildlife Park for Single Parents.

You will need to fill out a form to attend this trip for Single Parents so it is vital you attend one of their two coffee mornings in July to do this.

£5 per seat on the coach.( regardless of age). This includes a coach there and back, entry to the park and a snack for the children.

Payment accepted as cash, bank transfer or card (small extra charge applies) Spaces are will be limited!


 

Holywell Festival

 

This is the first Holywell Festival and it’s aim is to bring the people of the Holywell together as a community for an afternoon of fun, entertainment and friendship and to celebrate all that is currently happening in the area.

Join in the fun on Saturday 29th June at the Holywell Community Centre from 12.30pm – 4pm 

The Random Café will also be at the Holywell Festival and going to be doing a tuck shop, and a litter pick.

Leavesden Green School Summer Fair

 

Leavesden Green School are hosting a Summer Fair on Saturday 29th June from 11am – 2pm.  Bring along the grandparents, neighbours and friends to enjoy this annual event.

Activities include; Bouncy castle, BBQ, fun games, bottle and sweet tombolas, raffle and face painting.
