Cinderella is coming to Woodside!!

 

Hosted by Watford Leisure Centre Woodside the Panto, Cinderella, is coming to the leisure Centre on Saturday December 22nd from 11am – 1pm 

No story captures the imagination of children more than Cinderella.  For two hours (including an interval) they will be transported to the home of Baron Hardup where they will meet Cinderella and all her friends.

Packed solid with Comedy, excitement and adventure, the children will love to to cheer their hero, Prince Charming and boo the horrible Step Sisters, Fifi and Lala as they try to keep Cinderella from going to the ball.

Watford Mencap Recruitment Open Day

 

Watford Mencap is holding a Recruitment Open Day on Monday 3rd December from 10am – 3pm.

You will be able to find out more about what they do and how you can join their friendly team! along with meeting their staff and some of the people they support.

Presentations will be held at 10.30am and at 11.30am followed by question and answer sessions.

You can also find out about their current vacancies, including what a normal day is like for a support worker, the salary and benefits package.


 

Watford Mencap Santa Dash

 

Watford Mencap are hosting Santa Dash which is being held at Cassiobury Park on Sunday 2nd December.  This fun event has something for all ages and abilities.  The 1km Fun Run is open to all and will be followed by their chip-timed 5km Santa Dash.

There will be a selection of festive goodies on offer plus a special festive medal for all finishers.

Dress up as your favourite Christmas character and help make this a cracker of an event,  prizes will be awarded to the best dressed runners in each race as well as the fastest finishers.

Entry Fees:
£13.00 for the 5km Santa Dash 
£6.00 for 1k Fun Run

The funds raised by the Watford Santa Dash are used by Watford Mencap to support local people with learning disabilities to reach their full potential.

Christmas Bazaar and Fun Dog Show

 

The National Animal Welfare Trust are holding their Christmas Bazaar and Fun Dog Show on Sunday 2nd December at their centre Tylers Way, Watford Bypass from 11am – 3pm.

They will have lots of fun stalls with loads of goodies for all the family as well as gifts for Christmas.  Santa will also be there, so make sure that you pop in to see him.

They will also have a dog show for the 4 legged member of the family to take part in.


 

All Saints Church Christmas Market

 

All Saints Church Leavesden are hosting their Christmas Market on Saturday 1st December in their church hall from 10.30am – 2.30pm.

This is a great chance to buy some Christmas presents, as you can buy craft items and bath salts made locally with essential oils and minerals.  There will also be children’s activities, including face and nail painting, games and a Santa’s grotto.  As well as cake and refreshments stalls.  You can meet their cheeky elves and take an elfie selfie too.

The money raised will go towards paying off their loan to replace the church roof.


 

Green Minds Horticultural Centre Christmas Fair

 

The Green Minds Horticultural Centre are holding a Christmas Fair on Saturday 1st December from 11am – 3pm.  Green Minds is located between 24 – 26 Garsmouth Way.

They will have plants, handmade crafts, gifts, bric-a-brac, tombola, children’s activities and much more.  Refreshments including homemade cakes and mulled wine will also be on offer.


 

Single Parents Watford – Christmas Party

 

Watford Community Housing are holding their Single Parents Watford  Christmas Party on Saturday 1st December 11am- 1pm at the Meriden Community Centre.

Entry cost is just £1 per family which is payable on the day.  Lunch will be provided for children and they can meet Father Christmas! With tea and mince pies for the adults.

Places will be limited, so please arrive on time.   All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

You can enjoy balloon modeling, face painting, party games and there will be a cash prize draw for adults.

Community Christmas Dinner

 

Brunswick Court Care Home are once again partnering with Community Christmas by opening their doors to elderly people in the local community to join their residents and guests for a Christmas Day lunch on Tuesday 25th December from 12pm – 4pm.

Community Christmas, is a charity that believes no elderly person in the UK should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be, to help to reduce isolation amongst local elderly people at a time of year when they can feel particularly lonely.

Not only will it help reduce loneliness and isolation at Christmas, it will also be a chance to make new friends, creating bonds in the community that will last well beyond Christmas Day.


 

Christmas Holiday at Home – Tinsel and Turkey

 

Christmas ‘Holiday At Home’ will be held at Watford Salvation Army in St Albans Road. On Tuesday 11th December 10am – 4pm.  The cost is £12, which includes lunch, all activities and all refreshments.  The deadline for booking is Tuesday 4th December and places are limited

This is for anyone aged 60 or over, carers are welcome too and the entire site is disability friendly. 

Christmas ‘Holiday At Home’ will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of a yuletide holiday, full of  festive joy, fun and food in a warm and relaxed environment.  This is a wonderful opportunity to try something a little different.

There will be presents under the tree and carols around the piano.  You enjoy Christmas lunch with all the trimmings! Play parlour games, watch the Queen’s speech and share the nativity story.
