A History of Cassiobury

 

As part of  the Watford Central Library at 90 celebration, the library are hosting  A History of Cassiobury event on Wednesday 19th December from 2pm to 3pm,

Local author on Watford and Watford Museum Curator Sarah Priestley will be sharing her life-long fascination with Cassiobury

Book now at the library to avoid disappointment!  A Suggested donation of £2 would be appreciated and festive refreshments will be provided. 


 

One Hope Carol Service

 

New Hope and One YMCA are coming together to host their first ever joint carol service on Monday, 17th December from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  The service, which is FREE and open to all, will be held at Beechen Grove Baptist Church. (on the corner of Clarendon Road and Beechen Grove)

The Carol Service will feature a local choir, and will also include information about both charities’ work with people experiencing Homelessness in Watford, with the aim to raise awareness for those rough sleeping in our town during the Christmas period.

Festive refreshments will be available after the service.


 

Baby CPR Workshop

 

This FREE one hour baby CPR workshop is available for any new parent, aunties, uncles and grandparents, and is being held at the Meriden Community Centre on Monday 17th December from 12pm – 1pm.

 

You will have the opportunity to learn the vital skills you need to save a life.  The course covers how to respond and what to do in emergency, life-threatening situations.

Spaces are limited, and you will need to request a booking form and return it to Leannerodriguez@everyoneactive.com in order to secure your place.


 

Charity Gift Wrapping

 

Intu Watford have a charity gift wrapping station throughout December until Christmas Eve.  Volunteers on the desk will beautifully wrap your festive shopping and gifts in exchange for a small donation.

Each day Intu Watford are inviting national and local charities into the centre to raise money.  The desk will be open from 10am Monday-Saturday and 11am on Sundays, the desk will close just before the centre does.

Community Christmas Wrap-Up

On Wednesday 19th  December at 11am  you can also sit back and enjoy some light refreshments while St John’s Church, Watford do the wrapping in return for a small donation to help in St John’s work in their community.  They can provide the paper and decorations, or you can bring your own.  


 

Watford Football Club Evening Home Match – Match Day Parking

 

Watford Football Club have an evening home match on Wednesday 26th December (Kick off 7.30pm).  Parking restrictions will be enforced and traffic delays can be expected before and after the match.

The police will close of the section of Vicarage Road, between the junction with Fearnley Street and the junction with Harwoods Road.  This will be for a short period before and after the match.

Family Christmas at Watford Museum

 

Family Christmas at Watford Museum is being held on Saturday 15th December from 11am – 4pm at Watford Museum in the lower hight street.

The little elf ticket costs just £3 per child which you can on the day at the front desk.

Enjoy some festive family fun with their Christmas ornament workshop with the Friends of Watford Museum, a Christmas angel workshop, face painting and a trip to Santa’s Grotto at (11am – 12:30pm  & 1:30 – 3pm)

Watford Central Library at 90

 

Watford Central Library are hosting a free event to celebrate the 90th birthday of the library, on Wednesday 12th December from 3pm – 4.30pm.

Discover some of their hidden treasures including local archive maps, photos and leaflets.  Plus you can find out how the library has changed over time.  No booking required.


 

Lights of Love

 

The Peace Hospice are holding a Lights of Love commemorations service on Tuesday 11th December outside the Watford Town Hall (7pm for 7.30pm).  You are invited to be part of this to remember and celebrate the lives of your loved ones.

This event is open to the whole community, with readings, music, refreshments and the chance to dedicate a light as they switch on the Lights of Love tree.


 

The Coca-Cola Christmas Truck

 

The Christmas Coca-Cola truck tour will be at Watford Asda on Tuesday 11th December 12pm – 8pm.  In a winter wonderland setting, visitors will be able to enjoy a can of Coca-Cola and experience what is fast becoming a Christmas tradition.

As well as bringing festive magic, Coca-Cola will be pushing their message of the importance of recycling in line with their global pledge to collect and recycle a bottle or can for each one sold by the year 2030.

The Coca-Cola truck will be at Borehamwood Tesco on Wednesday 12th December.


 

Indoor Boot Sale Fundraiser

 

An Indoor Boot Sale Fundraiser is being held on Sunday 9th December 9am – 1pm at the Holywell Community Centre, Chaffinch Lane, Watford.  Proceeds will go towards the Watford & Three Rivers Trust charity.

Whether you are looking for a bargain or in need of a spot of last minute Christmas shopping,  there will be an exciting range of stalls here for you to explore, from clothing, jewellery, toys and household items.

Only £1 admission on the door which includes a free raffle ticket.
