Try It Out Day

 

Try It Out Day is hosted by DEMAND (Design and Manufacture for Disability) on Tuesday 29th October at Watford Central Library from 10am – 4pm.

DEMAND’s team invite you to drop in to their free ‘Try It Out’ day to put their designs to the test and let them know what you think!

If you or someone in your family could benefit from their various sensory friendly and wheelchair accessible designs please join them.

No booking needed, just drop in!

Slipper Swap Social

 

Come along for a cup of tea and a chat about safety at home at this Slipper swap social,  Borehamwood Library, on Monday 11th November from 2pm – 5pm or at one of the other scheduled events.

Event is free but donations are always appreciated and you can get a Free pair of slippers!

There will be representatives from; Age UK, Neighbourhood Watch and moreThey will also have a reminiscences boxes to look at which are available via the library.

Session runs from 2pm – 5pm but no need to stay for the whole thing.


 

Free Community CPR First Aid Training Sessions

 

Free CPR training sessions on Sunday 20th October, from 1pm – 4pm for the public to raise awareness on what to do in the event of a heart attack.

This event supports the Resuscitation Council’s (UK) Restart a Heart Day campaign during October 2019.

Training takes 30 minutes, delivered by local qualified trainer Cyan Heart Ltd and will be held at the Cassiobury Hub’s education space.

How to help a hedgehog!

 

Hedgehogs need our help!  These little nocturnal mammals will be going into hibernation soon and there are lots that we can do to help them along the way.  Come along and learn about these little creatures, what you can do to help and enjoy some hedgehog themed craft activities at Leavesden Country Park, Friday 1st November from 2pm – 4pm.

Meet at Leavesden HIVE. All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Do you like board games, biscuits, tea, a bit of conversation and friendly faces? Why not give this Board on Wednesdays club a try!  Every Wednesday from 11am – 12.30pm at Watford Central Library.

Heritage Walk

 

A guided walk on Sunday 20th October from 11am – 1pm with a member of the SW Herts Archaeological & Historical Society, from the Cassiobury Park Hub up into Whippendell Woods.

Find out about the history of the amazing public Park of today, from prehistory to the Estate of the Earls of Essex.

Booking is essential. £2 per person – email cassiobury@watford.gov.uk to book your places.

Please note – book by 18th October as emails are not checked during weekend of the event.

Meeting point is outside the Hub on the upper paved patio. Walk suitable for adults and families with older children.


 

Watford Christmas Lights Switch-On

 

2019 will be a very special festive period for our town centre, as Watford businesses have come together to fund a spectacular Christmas light display for The Parade area on Watford High Street, on Sunday 17th November from 5pm. 

Join them for their Switch-On Event with fantastic entertainment in Watford town centre throughout the day, before their very special guests illuminate Watford at 5pm with the Grand Switch-On and Firework Display by The Pond.


Pensioners’ Forum

 

Watford Borough Council is working in partnership with Watford & Three Rivers Trust to invite Watford residents to the next free Pensioners’ Forum on Monday 11th November, from 2 to 4pm at Watford Colosseum.

This Pensioners’ Forum will be focused around social care.  You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts about the social care system.  Colleagues from Independent Age will also be attending.

The Pensioners’ Forum is FREE to attend and it is a great way for residents in Watford to meet, new people and chat over tea and cake.
