Heritage Walk

 

A guided walk on Sunday 20th October from 11am – 1pm with a member of the SW Herts Archaeological & Historical Society, from the Cassiobury Park Hub up into Whippendell Woods.

Find out about the history of the amazing public Park of today, from prehistory to the Estate of the Earls of Essex.

Booking is essential. £2 per person – email cassiobury@watford.gov.uk to book your places.

Please note – book by 18th October as emails are not checked during weekend of the event.

Meeting point is outside the Hub on the upper paved patio. Walk suitable for adults and families with older children.


 

Watford Christmas Lights Switch-On

 

2019 will be a very special festive period for our town centre, as Watford businesses have come together to fund a spectacular Christmas light display for The Parade area on Watford High Street, on Sunday 17th November from 5pm. 

Join them for their Switch-On Event with fantastic entertainment in Watford town centre throughout the day, before their very special guests illuminate Watford at 5pm with the Grand Switch-On and Firework Display by The Pond.


Pensioners’ Forum

 

Watford Borough Council is working in partnership with Watford & Three Rivers Trust to invite Watford residents to the next free Pensioners’ Forum on Monday 11th November, from 2 to 4pm at Watford Colosseum.

This Pensioners’ Forum will be focused around social care.  You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts about the social care system.  Colleagues from Independent Age will also be attending.

The Pensioners’ Forum is FREE to attend and it is a great way for residents in Watford to meet, new people and chat over tea and cake.

Meet the Manager

 

Come along to meet the Manager Session on Thursday 24th October from 6.30pm at Watford Leisure Centre Woodside. 

This will be an informal session over cheese and wine, which will give you a chance to discuss any improvements or suggestions you may have.

Watford’s Draft Local Plan

 

Want to know more about Watford’s first draft Local Plan which sets out how our town will develop up to 2036?  Come along to one of Watford Council public exhibitions.

The nearest drop in session for Meriden Residents is on Tuesday 22nd October at the Meriden Community Centre from 5pm – 7pm.


 

Information evening

 

Hertfordshire Constabulary and local Community Safety Partnerships are working with local schools to host an information evening for parents, carers and the wider community on Monday 21st October at West Herts College.

Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm and the session will start at 7pm.

During the evening you will here from guest speakers who will talk about; Gangs, County lines, Knife crime, Social media and positive choices.

Plant for peace

 

Watford Interfaith Association invite you to The Peace Garden in Cassiobury Park, for two days of planting for peace.  The first is Wednesday 16th October from 10am – 12 noon. 

You are welcome to plant your own bulbs, it is suggested flowers such as Narcissus, Primrose, Iris, Pansies or Snowdrops.

Leavesden Hospital History

 

Visit the Leavesden HIVE to see memorabilia, artefacts and to learn more about the history of Leavesden hospital that once stood in Leavesden Country Park.  The next session is Monday 28th October from 10am – 3pm.
